“How might we make it easy and fun to find the perfect car for you?”
That was the question we asked ourselves when we were building Edmunds “Auto Mate”, a visual car finder. Modeled after dating website compatibility tests (like eHarmony and Match.com) it was designed to take the technical guesswork out of discovering cars that fit your needs.
After a simple screen that captured basic information, shoppers were presented with a set of images to help us understand what features mattered to them.

Based on those selections, shoppers were presented with sets of 3 cars and asked to choose the one they preferred. (In this comp the choices are the same, but in the live product the choices were different and dynamically generated).
